Thank you
Monday, December 22, 2008 at 12:42PM Thanks everyone for all the messages. They have been a great encouragement not only when we were out there but also now we are back home and for me particularly trying to recover.
Am hopeless at being a patient and am hopeless with continual pain! But am getting there, God willing.
Thanks again though. These have meant a lot. Together we had a great adventure...and as my friend reminded me today...Evil Kaneval said:

See...every cloud has a silver lining! Although my shoulder is unlikely to be very attractive I suspect!

MERRY CHRISTMAS, Bear!!!!!!! :)) I hope that you have a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!!!! :))
I hope that you make a full recovery. I am glad to hear that you are home save.
Merry Christmas,
Summer D.
Feliz por saber de usted, y que está en casa con su familia.
El humor es bueno para recuperarse, Shara alivia dolor de hombro... la forma que tenga no sera fea si esta en usted.
Feliz Navidad.
G'day Bear, I have a similar x-ray after picking up a grade 3 separation earlier this year in a trailbike accident. Hurts huh?!
I'm not particularly fit or strong, but I recovered full movement fairly quickly. I've decided not to go the surgery route for now, as it mostly works ok again. It looks pretty weird though, especially when I move my arm certain ways. I get the occasional twinge of pain, but nothing too bad.
Take care.
Dear Bear,
How did you hurt your shoulder?? Did you fall on your shoulder?
That must really hurt?!!!!!!
Your big fan,
Summer D.
Hi, How's everything?
I hope that you feel better.
One step at a time. By the way, enjoy your family and close friends!
Trust in Lord, this short time will be to think how to live, that risks are part of the life! And they are histories that you can tell and we can listen (and learn how to survive).
You are strong, but Shara is more than you because she supports you and the babies. She's a wonderful woman! God and your family are the cure!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Soon we'll see you on tv again and we'll have lots of fun!
Best regards,
From Brazil
Merry Christmas. And have a happy new year.
Hey Bear! It's good to hear from you and how you're doing. I completely agree that it sucks having to wait for things like that to heal, it's like, get on with it already...! But at least you were doing what you loved so you can always look back at the scar and be proud!! ;0) I do hope it heals soon and doesn't give you trouble after that.
Just so you know, my hubby and I were out last night getting drenched in the fresh falling snow while camping in the wilderness. It was great fun and beauty I will always remember. And I was out there all because you said some of us needed to dust off our God given spirit.. It is so wonderful to feel nature again! anyway, long story but I won't write all that. I will be posting it on our family blog, olpinodyssey.com if you're interested. It really does have everything to do with your survival book, so thanks for writing it. You can know that you have helped a few people and your words have made all the difference. It's kind of silly but before I went to sleep last night in our tent, all bundled and trying to stay warm, I read the first few pages again as they are my favorite, as encouragement not to be afraid of the dark and unknown...... (my hubby, Jeff ,wasn't worried about the night, when his head hit the pillow he was out, leaving me to the quiet, erieness of the wilderness....;0) But it's all good right?...
I hope you are able to enjoy your time off and the Holidays even with your shoulder. Merry Christmas to you and your family!! Take care!!

Dear Bear, You sound in good spirits! Our family is hoping that you have a very Merry Christmas. My husband received 2 of your books for Christmas, and we all look forward to learning how to be survivors. My husband and two boys, are BIG fans! My children wrote you letters and made you cards and we would like to get them to you. If we send them to your manager, will you get them? Take it easy, Bear! Glad to here you're hanging in there, Bear. We love the show and can't wait for the next set of adventures.
Get well soon!
Hi Bear, keep up the great work with your shows and your charity work. Hope you are recovering with less pain as your body starts to heal. On a different note, I still get peeved hearing about certain ignorant people giving you a hard time about some scenes from your shows being planned. I mean, of course they are meant to be planned, im sure a lot of work goes into production of the fantastic series. People need to remember its a show for demonstration purposes so who cares that a scene is staged? its exciting nevertheless and it should be appreciated that youre risking your life in most cases! Anyway, people should be focused on your amazing achievements and relentless charity work... I know i am. Take care and regards, Ann from Australia.
M8T! Besh wishes for a quick recovery. Having had both shoulders done (rotator cuff and artritis) I know it's no fun. Be true to the PT though, as painful as it is, it's supremey important.
Keep up the spirit for you were not made for a meak and mild one! Your show is the highlight of my week and your energy is fantastic.
Our love to our family!

Merry Christmas to you and your lovely family Bear, and to Team Antarctica! May you all continue to inspire and explore and show us the beauty of the Earth!!! Stay strong in your quest to heal and here's wishing you a nice-looking scar in the end! Remember it's part of your history and am sure your boys will love hearing of your adventures when they grow up :-) Have an exciting 2009!
Dear Bear:
Evil Kneivel was right: bones, in time, do heal and chicks really do love scars! They are marks of a man's character and strength. You are undoubtedly covered with an assortment of old wounds, and have an interesting and well-traveled story to tell for each! My late grandpa lost a pinkie finger while on the job >50 years ago making biscuits. Each time we'd ask as little ones what happened to his finger, he'd exclaim 'A steamboat ran over it!' This was his scar, and it was true to his joking and fun ways. Such will be your new scar - it's going to be another part of your strength and character.
Best wishes for your healing!
Kristen from Indiana
MERRY CHRISTMAS, BEAR!!!!!! :))
My dad & I wish you a full recovery & Merry Christmas to you & your family!!! :))
Your big fan,
Summer D.
Bear, from one grunt to another, get up and get at it. I've broke 41 bones in 43 years, I'm missing a couple of fingers, and I have a titanium shoulder. I have every bit of faith in you. I thank you for bringing our world to the rest of the world, we really are unknown to them. I hope all of the kids are doing well, and especially your wife. Lord knows without them, we would be mud. Semper Fi Amigo, Tap.
So Bear, are you going to be able to have your annual New Year's dip?
Chicks also dig bold, cold, wet bandaged dudes! Just kidding!!
Better keep that kit dry, and make 'em wait for the scars.
Happy New Year!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, BEAR!!!!!!!
I hope that you make a full recovery!! :))

Summer D. from Oregon
